Leadership academy
The CARA Leadership Academy is CARA’s premiere training program. Sponsored by the CARA Education Fund (CARA’s §501(c)(3) sister organization), the Leadership Academy is designed to provide hands-on and fun training modules to enhance leadership skills for CARA members to become more effective advocates. The Leadership Academy is an in-person, 2-day course, starting at 9 am and ending by 4 pm. These sessions are held throughout the state in rotating locations. This allows CARA members and partners to participate in a course close to their homes while arranging for lodging for those who do not want to travel back and forth to the training location each day. In July 2024, we held our Leadership Academy in San Diego at the UDW-AFSCME 3930 headquarters. A big thank you to UDW for their support and hospitality.
“ The two-day training course is FREE to CARA members and members of CARA-affiliated organizations."
Anyone can attend our Leadership Academy training, although space is limited so that we can work with participants more closely and provide a meaningful, participatory environment. The two-day training course is FREE to CARA members and members of CARA-affiliated organizations. It costs $50 for non-CARA members. CARA provides continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and materials. Lodging and travel costs are the responsibility of the participants.
