CARA Members Bring the Voices of Seniors to Sacramento

The California Labor Federation Joint Legislative Conference brought together hundreds of union members, leaders, and advocates from across the state for several days of coordinated action at the Capitol. Under the banner of #UnionizeCalifornia, participants gathered to align on priorities, share strategies, and build collective power to advance worker protections.

CARA was proud to be part of this effort, joining fellow advocates in both the conference sessions and direct meetings with legislators to uplift the needs of workers and the communities they serve.

Throughout the event, the focus remained clear: working people must have a voice in shaping California’s future. Delegations lifted up urgent issues like protecting essential services, defending workers’ rights, and expanding access to good union jobs. CARA stood alongside partners in emphasizing the importance of safeguarding critical programs like long-term care and in-home support services, reinforcing that cuts to these lifelines would have devastating impacts. From powerful speakers to grassroots organizing on display, the conference highlighted the strength and unity of California’s labor movement—showing that when workers stand together, they can influence policy, hold leaders accountable, and push forward a vision of economic justice for all.
